Siete de Mayo

I had to grind my gears for a few moments when I awakened from a nice Interlude of Deep Sleep: yes, it is Tuesday! I made a headlong rush through my busy Monday** but managed to slip away a few minutes early to go retrieve my truck. Another $1800 invested, but she seems to be running fine although she now smells like an ordinary stinky diesel! I guess that diesel exhaust fluid does do something?

** perhaps today I’ll get an actual lunch hour instead of 20 minutes, which I know is better than nothing but a little aggravating. But some mornings are just like that - I keep on getting held up by this, that,  and the other appointment until before I know it,  it’s over an hour later than when I normally get to work in the surgery trailer. (Ideal scheduling has me seeing appointments from 9 AM to 10 AM, surgeries from 10 AM to 12 noon, and then on a good day we enjoy a lunch hour)

More good news - Christina has been released from the hospital as the rest of my week starts to come into focus. Zach took his last final exam (which he has a good feeling about, thank God!) so the rest of the week will be a little R&R combined with job hunting for him. Today he enjoys his own celebratory lunch with his professor who is taking his students out - sounds like a nice guy! There were some momentary concerns about the Palestinian protest encampment that was developing, but campus police dispersed it. Smoothing out my tinfoil hat - I find it interesting that four years ago, we had the summer of BLM and this year we have “Free Palestine” protests, all closely matched to the election cycle. Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln,  how did you enjoy the play?

But for now I’m gonna concentrate on my own little universe, deciding how things will fall into place for my Mother’s Day weekend. I think I will rent a minivan to transport all of us to graduation: between Peran and I, Victoria and Zach, &Victoria‘s grandparents it will be more efficient means of transportation especially with a Adela’s mobility problems.  Unfortunately I won’t be extending an invitation to Zach’s  father and his soulmate.

  1. I have spent a lot of time in medical offices/clinics/hospitals, including vet's offices, and I am surprised that these places can keep to any kind of schedule or get an opportunity to eat at all. I seldom got to eat working as a nurse. Constant emergencies.

So glad your truck is back!!

    What is Zach's major?

Wow!! Never had a professor who was that nice. Must be a small group because males this age can eat their way out of a train car.

I tired decades ago, almost at birth, of problems in the middle east. They have been fighting for millenniums. How can I possibly help? I'm for letting them do their thing and leave me out of it. I've known both Israelis and Palestinians and the one thing I can say about both of them is that they can take care of themselves. Of course, they were educated, wealthy, and living on foreign soil but a close friend of mine is an Israeli and grew up in Israel where service it required and she is one tough lady. Really, why do we have to butt in to everything that happens everywhere? If one is honest, both sides have a point. If you attack Israel they are not going to put up with it. If you harbor dangerous people in your midst you are putting yourself at risk. It doesn't give you a right to ruthlessly kill every man/woman/child of the opposition. If the U.S. wants to do anything then have the CIA clandestinely weed out these terrorist groups everywhere including here and do away with them. Cut off the head of the monster. Learn to tolerate people you don't like. I do it every day here. Don't you?

Surely by now your ex doesn't consider Cruella his soulmate. Even Snidely Whiplash must have secretly preferred Nell.

    1. Please realize that the "soulmate" comment is firmly tongue-in-cheek... But that's the way it was explained to me by H1 - nevermind all the occasions when we went through our first rough spell (i.e. the first time I caught him cheating, about 7 yrs in), when **I** used to be his "destiny", we were meant to grow old together, gag gag retch retch. Can't believe I was so young, dumb & naive to believe his spiels!
I am thrilled to death that Zach has gotten involved in yes, a small research group (I think there's 8 students) - the Analytical Chemists. (Zach will earn his BS in Chemistry)

    2. I never have trusted men like your ex. He is way too emotional to be male or just a con man. They are usually just horny and have no concept of anything involving destiny or soulmates. Your ex is a freak. So was mine. I hate that you have to be anywhere near him and the Whore.

Great news for Zach. Great field to be in.

  2. How nice of the professor to host his students! I think the only prof I had (back in the day) to do that would have been my senior advisor, who oversaw the vaunted "senior project".

Good luck to the graduate with his job searching, and to you with the logistics of getting everyone to the ceremony. Glad the protests are not going to spoil it.

    Onward!
